MEET YOUR TEACHER!

Amy Kalyn Sims is a 500-hour registered yoga instructor and Level 2 Reiki practitioner living in Asheville, NC. After graduating from the Savannah College of Art & Design in 2002, Amy moved to New York City to pursue a career in photography. While living in the big city she found she was seeking something more and decided to try yoga. What she discovered was a true path toward health and contentment.

After practicing yoga for several years, Amy completed the Sankalpah Yoga 200-hour teacher training with Mary Dana Abbott & Isaac Peña and began teaching yoga in NYC. After teaching for 2 years, she decided to further deepen her practice through the Laughing Lotus 300-hour Advanced Teacher Training, studying with Dana Flynn, Alison Cramer, Raganauth Cappo, Elena Brower and a host of other amazing teachers.

In late 2011, Amy’s family moved from NYC to Asheville. She began teaching yoga in Asheville in January of 2012. In 2017, she completed the Asheville Yoga Center 300-hour Therapeutic Yoga Teacher Training where she learned the therapeutic essentials of yoga to work with stress, injuries and illness. Amy studied children’s yoga with Jane Anne Tager at the Asheville Yoga Center and is a Kidding Around Yoga certified children’s yoga instructor.

Amy comes from an artistic background and brings this innovative aspect to the mat. Her classes incorporate a creative flow threaded with breath, meditation, mantras, and a passion for music. She is honored to be a part of the Budo Mountain family and enjoys serving the Asheville community.
